| The end house, with the green sign, is our home-away-from home in Canterbury. | We got to Wincheap B&B early, and the host was out. We just piled our luggage in the front garden and walked around to familiarlize ourselves with the area. |

| Joe Passey has owned Wincheap B&B for 18 years, and he does flowers | Once we got out luggage out of the garden, we could appreciate the full range of colors in the beautiful display. |

A long section of the ancient city wall surrounds old Canterbury. We walked into town by this route occasionally. Shooting battlements still stand guard. |

| Dane John hill, just inside the city wall, has been a monument for hundreds of years. | The ridges are a pathway up to the monument. We climbed it, and got a view of the city. |

| It's not raining, so there's a better view of Christ's Church Gate at the end of the lane. | Christ Church Gate is in Butter Market Square. You get a real sense of history there until you look at the brown awnings next to the gate. They say Starbucks. |

| This was our favorite little bakery tearoom, The Custard Tart. | The bakery was, as usual, on the ground floor. The stairs were very narrow wooden spiral steps, not always at a flat angle. |

| The little tea room overlooked the street. This day Bob chose a cozy corner of the room. | The Boho offered free internet. We had to squeeze into a tiny corner near the window to catch the signal from upstairs. We felt we should buy something, so we drank lots of tea and hot chocolate while on the 'net. |

| Kings Head pub was just down the street from Wincheap B&B. Joe, our host, played on a team there and often talked of the place. | We wanted to see his hangout before we left, so we walked down to the pub for lunch one day. It was homey and quaint inside. |

| Bob found a couple of local chaps to talk to at the bar. | The upholstered chairs and benches added a touch of class to the Kings Head. |
