| We visited Pat and Jeff Simons in Newlyn for a few days. Here is their hillside retirement bungalow in Newlyn. | The view from Simons' bungalow of Penzance and Mounts Bay is fantastic. Penzance, Newlyn, and Mousehole are in a row along Mounts Bay, and all are connected by a walkway beside the sea. |

| Jeff put a lot of work into their back yard. It's a lovely hideaway sort of place. | Cocktail hour happened in the back garden each day with sunshine and tinto veronas. |

| A wealthy woman named Rowena Cade and her gardener built this theater by hand, bit by bit. From 1931 until her death in 1983, Rowena Cade's life was her theater. | The theater is in a steep gully atop a cliff on the ocean. The stages are as she built them, though a modern sound system and lights have been added. |

The original and main stage set of Minack Theater.

Looking up, the effect is rather like a Roman amphitheater. Rowena drew Celtic designs in the wet cement with a screwdriver for decoration. |

| Note the little green area and gate on this clifftop. It is right below the Minack stage, and was reputably Rowena's little get-away place. | After all that climbing up and down, tea is in order. The tearoom is perched right above the theater. |

| Far below the theater, to the east, is Porthcurno Beach. A steep path leads from the beach to just left of where I stood to take this photo. | Between the theater and the parking lot are tropical gardens for the enjoyment of the public. |

| We four walked down the hill into central Newlyn for dinner. | Jeff and Pat took through Old Newlyn. The old name of this destrict was Fragan. Jeff's grandparents lived here. |

| Fragan is an area of one long lane, shown here, with many short dead-end lanes branching off. | The former modest fishermen's homes in Fragan are now upscale apartments and holiday rentals. |
