Mousehole, Cornwall, England
Mousehole harbor The Mousehole
Mousehole village, another one of my British favorite places. This is the "Mousehole," the only way in or out of the harbor basin.

Nikki and Amy explore the village lanes. Another picturesque Mousehole lane...

and another. It's like stepping back into a storybook. We went by this window several times, and kitty just watched us.

Mousehole cat Lisa
We found the Mousehole cat! He's hero of the famous children's book, The Mousehole Cat. You can find a lot of black and white cats in the gift shops, but this was our first live one.
Yes, he's alive. But he must have had an awful hangover. We petted him, talked to him, and he snoozed away. So we just posed with him in situ.
Mousehole cat Bob
quayside tea
Bob greets the Mousehole Cat. A refreshing break: tea time on the quay.
Amy, Craig, Lisa, Gordy, and Josh leave Newquay
group photo Newquay
Here's the whole group: Gordy, Lisa, Nikki, Ruth, Bob, Pauline, Amy, Craig. Josh and Amber are in front.
Bob and Ruth stayed on. During the week after the kids left for home, Nikki and Pauline took us all over Cornwall.
Trebah Gardens
Trebah Cornwall 1 Trebah, Cornwall 2
The gardens of Trebah fill a ravine from a hilltop down to a beach. There are forests, formal gardens, ponds, and a stream to discover as you follow the paths. Among the exotic plants are these huge rhubarb "groves." Pauline and Nikki demonstrate their size.

hydrangeas Trebah Cornwall 2
Trebah is best known for acres of hydrangeas that flow alongside the stream to the sea. More hydrangeas, a field of beauty.

Trebah beach tea
Look at the size of those plants! It was a chilly day, and misty. We ate our welcome, warming lunch of sandwiches and hot tea at the beach.
Trebah beach Bob
Bob stands at an historic spot at Trebah. The Americans, for the D-Day attack on France, left from Cornish beaches. The men who left this small beach in the middle of the night on June 6, 1944, were headed for Omaha Beach on the coast of Normandy. We will be visiting the D-Day beaches in August. On Omaha Beach, he will complete the link of that day in history.
