| We took a trip with Russell and Eileen on the historic Welsh Highlands line on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. | This little village is only accessible from the train. |

| At one train stop, Eileen (that's she) and I walked a path for a ways. | You're a long way from neighbors up here in the Highlands. |

Back on Holy Island, I'm standing on the golden sands of Trearddur Beach.

Friends over the years. Russell and Eileen have visited us in Florida, also. |

| Durham, Country Durham, England | |

| All the B&Bs in Durham were full for a cricket match. Great luck for us. We were booked into this venerable country hotel at B&B rates. That's our windows open in the upper right. | I did have to be careful getting out of bed, though. |

| A nice little desk in the corner of the room made a study for us. | This glass conservatory wrapped the hotel on two sides. We had breakfast there each morning. It was beautiful! |

| Durham is an old town of narrow winding streets overlooked by a castle and a cathedral. Durham Castle in in the upper right. | Durham Castle. It is now a school, and you can only tour it on term breaks. |

| The River Wear. We crossed the river back and forth on both bridges, the one you see and the one I'm standing on to take this photo. | Durham Cathedral is a magnificent church. Inside, well-trained volunteer guides answer your questions and show you things you might miss in an unobtrusive manner. |

| We made a quick overnight stop at Moss Deeping to meet the first of our kids to come over for our 50th Anniversary celebration of two weeks in England with our family. | Daughter Lisa, son-in-law Gordy, and grandson Josh have just arrived to Manchester Airport. Bob is holding up a USA Today he found in the news agent's shop, a touch of home. |

| We, Lisa, Gordy, and Josh traveled from Manchester Airport of Warwick the same day. Amy and Craig were due in there in the morning. | Every bed in the King's Head had a teddy bear on it, which was comfy and clever. Also, every room had free internet, which made us very happy. |

| Daughter Amy and husband Craig came into Warwick by bus from Birmingham Airport. Here's everybody, just after Amy and Craig arrived, enjoying a full English breakfast at King's Head. | Young Josh strolls through the lounge bar in Kings Head. The restored inn is over 400 years old. |

| From Kings Head we went by taxi out into the country to our farm cottages, our homes for the next week. A long barn had been converted into a row of cottages. Octavia, where Lisa, Gordy, and Josh stayed is on the left. Portia, where the rest of us lived is, of course, on the right. | Amy and Craig relax in front of the window wall of our cottage that overlooked a pastoral meadow. Sheep grazed in the distance. |

| The kitchen at Portia. Definitely a one-person workspace. | Octavia had the biggest table, to we all ate over there. Suppers were mostly bread, cheese, wine, and fruit, with occasional soup on a chill day. Oh, and Cornish Pasties when we could get them. |
