| It's 11 p.m. on George Street in Oban. The sun hardly sets in summer this far north. | |

| We took a boat tour to Castle Duart on the Isle of Mull. The lone fortress stands guard on this rugged land. | Duart comes closer. . |

| We pass near the fortress as we round a rocky point. | The boat lands, though, some ways from the castle and we must follow a path up the slope to it. |

| All that climbing and walking makes a person hungry. A small tea room near Duart Castle offers scones and hot tea. | |

| A few days later we board a MacBrayne ferry in Oban to spend a couple of days on the Isle of Mull. We also toured the Isle of Iona. | Arle Lodge on Mull is at the edge of the sea. The left building is the bed and breakfast lodge, the other is the home of the lodge owners, the Morrises. |

| Arle Lodge was a hostel, and is now a sort of hybrid. We had a private en suite room like a bed and breakfast, but had to provide and cook our own food. | Our meals at the lodge were simple, enjoyed in front of a countryside view. |

| Sheep grazed between Arle Lodge and sea. | Meet Hamish, the biggest, fluffiest sheep I'd ever seen. He was the pet of the Morrises, and lived a life of luxury. |
